In our research we found that Tudor clothes did not have pockets. It was common for people to carry pouches to hold their coins. These were tied on to their belts or clothes. We have designed and made our own Tudor pouches with working drawstrings to open and close the purses. We have developed our sewing skills by using a running stitch to make a
hem, and a stronger chain stitch to join the sides up securely. We
threaded a leather string through the hem to create the draw string.
